A room with a view...

We are so bogged down in building and chores and trying to keep on top of everything that the idea of taking time for ourselves right now seems very distant and strangely surreal - even sitting down for half an hour to blog is the greatest treat! So today in amongst the building and cooking and cleaning and all the rest of it I thought I better stop and take stock. I was summoned to the build to see where we've got to by my little rebels shouting from the ramparts!

I dread to think how they got up there, but before I could say 'wheres your hard hat?' I was up there too. Well if you cant beat them , join em! This was the first time I've stood in the first floor room - our future bedroom. I was so excited I hardly trusted my self on the ladder!

I think BH must have seen the look on my face and guessed that my mind was skipping on to curtains and cushions as he was very quick to point out that things will take a long time yet - oh if only it was like on the telly and we'd all be sorted by teatime! couldn't resist getting a quick preview of what our view will be one day, so here it is....

I'd love to say the view will be much tidier, but I'm not asking miracles, just a bit of greenery outside the window will make a very very happy mum!

So my top tip for today is to stop - stop and take stock, stop and look around you , stop and climb a ladder if needs to be to get a better view, but definitely stop and smell the roses, or soak up the asters because its all alright really!!!

  2. what an exciting stage - to look out and see your actual view! Not long I'm sure until you're gazing at it wearing your slippers. We have built 2 houses so I sympathise with the ups and downs of it all. funnily enough, was thinking of your Yorkshire Life (and how you relocated to secure it) when I was in Kings Manor! turns out Coffee Lady, one of my favourite blogs, used to do Medieval Literature classes in there 20 years ago. So odd how many people's lives a building can touch, and for Kings Manor, over so many hundreds of years.

  3. What a lovely view you'll have from your bedroom window. We extended our house a few years ago and I found it so stressful, so I can sympathise.

  4. Yes we too have been there - it was this time of year too but now only a distant memory and well worth the discomfort!

  5. it's so exciting! We're panning to extend the kitchen soon and I can't wait... all summer we kept plotting it out to see what it would feel like!

  6. Eeek, building is so disruptive! It will all be worth it in the end, though :)

If you get a chance, I've tagged you in this post: http://turntothemusic.blogspot.com/2010/10/memememe.html

  7. I wandered around our mid-stage remodel upstairs this weekend. I'm still trying to visualize colors and shapes, places where a soft couch will rest, where my new built-in desk and office space will be, what the light will look like (thank you sun tunnel!), and how those french doors will feel late at night when movies end and it's time for bed. And you're so right. Even now, there's something magical about the potential, the possibility, and this moment is worth savoring.

  9. What a grand view of the garden from your future bedroom. Fantastic progress to date (must be your cake supplements *grin*). Hope the colder weather holds off for you at least until you get the roof on... :-D
