Aquilegias everywhere...

Aquilegias...I love 'em. I don't plant them, I don't feed them, I don't even have to stake them. As long as I don't accidentally weed them they do their thing...

They crop up everywhere and last and last...

And they surprise me every year with new colours...

And plenty of ruffles...

Yes, I love 'em! All I have to do now is let them run to seed and look forward to next years crop...

  1. Oh I agree! Wonderful little things (and so resiliant in the rain too)!

  3. They are such good plants. I've mostly let them seed themselves in my garden but in the last few years I've been trying to increase the number of deep blue and tall yellow varieties by gathering and planting the seed from selected plants. Of course, it doesn't work. Still, the blue ones produced some excellent maroon plants and the yellow ones have produced some lovely red and white varieties.

  4. They're my favourites - and just as well because they're all over my garden!

  5. I love them too, though I wish I got other colours than pink and purple from self seeded ones.

  7. Ours have started growing through the patio slabs! You have way more varieties and colours than us, though!

  9. I love them because they seem to pop up in the most unexpected places! I have a lot of white and soft lavender this year, but in the past a deep purplish claret color was one of my faves! There is a wild variety that is very small with red and yellowish blooms too ... so delicate! Here in the States, we call them columbine, a common name.
